Donald “Duke” E. Buckland, 96, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family. Born May 4, 1921, in Escanaba, MI, the son of Edward and Mildred (Jensen) Buckland. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 10th Mountain Division. Married Ernestine L. Carlson on April 15, 1945, in Escanaba. Duke enjoyed woodworking, traveling and was an avid reader. Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Denny) O’Brien of Machesney Park; son, Donald (Kathy) Buckland of Seymour, WI; grandchildren, Pamela (Tony) Vitale, Julie Colwell and Amanda (Tony) Spreenan; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Meeker, Megan Dinges, Ashley Ramirez, Jenna (Kyle Trent) Vitale and Justin Ramirez; great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Ramirez and Westin Eccles; and sister, Gayle Moras. Predeceased by his parents and wife. The family wishes to thank Tracy with Help at Home and Sunrise Family Restaurant for their loving care and friendship.
