Don R. Case, 84, of South Beloit crossed over into eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 14, 1933, in Janesville, WI, the son of Clinton Scott and Ella B. (Graf) Case. Married Shirley Usery on July 1, 1972, in Rockton. Don was founder and editor of the Horseman’s Review Magazine. He was a rodeo and horseshow announcer. Don was a prominent breeder and exhibitor of registered Pinto horses, winning two national titles, exhibiting in five states. He was a retired crane operator at Warner Brake and Clutch. Former operations manager for Dun-Rite Services and Van’s Building Services. He owned and operated Case Building Services and retired operations manager from Growth Enterprises Janitorial Division. Active committee member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Mount Olive Lutheran Church, both in Rockford. Member of St. Andrew Church in Rockton. Don enjoyed gardening, crafting and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his children from a previous marriage, Ellen Granneman and Douglas (Donna) Case, both of Paris, TN, Jeri Lynn Dorman of Long Beach, CA, Barbara (Ken) Fry of Paris, TN and Christine (Steve) Bishop of Port Charlotte, FL; loving stepchildren, James Thomas of Trenton, OH, Colleen (Mark) Lengrand of South Beloit and Gregory (Vicky) Thomas of Byhalia, MS; brother, George (Deena) Case of Janesville, WI; mother-in-law, Eula Vi Bennett of South Beloit; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Charles E. and Russell S. Case; and grandson, Nicholas Jackson.
Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
