Diane L. (Rockwell) Kleckner, 69, of Belvidere passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016, in her home, after a long courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born September 28, 1946, in Rockford, the daughter of Delos and Delores (Stanbury) Rockwell, Jr. She was the first of four children. Diane was a graduate of Rockford West High School, Class of 1964. She enjoyed reading, sewing, sports of all kinds and was an avid hockey fan. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She also enjoyed games excelling at Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and was a Trivial Pursuit player extraordinaire, allowing the girls team to exultantly shout “Girls Rule” as they won almost every game with her help. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Hot Dog Lunch Lady at Highland School and worked many years on the West High School Reunion Committee. She did a wonderful job keeping her husband in line and loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband, Bob; son, Ken (Kathy) Peterson, Jr., of Littleton, CO; daughter, Kristine (Craig) Cooper of Loves Park; stepdaughter, Kris Fitzgerald of Huntley; stepson, Kevin (Stephanie) Kleckner of Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Carly and Kevin Peterson, Nick Cooper, Nathan and Ryan Fitzgerald, Everett Butzine, Aspyn Hinman, Summer and Finnley Kleckner; sister, Denise (Paul) Karr of Caledonia; brothers, Donn (Cindy) Rockwell and David B. Rockwell, both of Rockford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by all for her kind and loving spirit, her beautiful smile, her courage and her willingness to help anyone in any way she could.
Service at noon Saturday, September 10, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Visitation also from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, September 9, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or charity of your choice.
