Diane L. Carlson, 87, of Loves Park, IL, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born December 10, 1937, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Donald and Bernice (Ludwig) Holm. Graduated from East High School. Married Steve Carlson on May 3, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Employed by Rockford Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with family and friends. Diane loved music and attended many musicals and concerts. Jersey Boys and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat were two of her favorite musicals. Attended Starlight theatre events every year with her friends. Loved to travel and took many trips to Puerto Vallarta and Las Vegas. Diane loved to read and spent many wonderful hours on her deck in the sun reading and admiring her beautiful flowers. Survivors include her son, Michael (Charlene) Carlson; grandchildren, Stephan (Esther) Carlson, Jordan (Erica) Carlson, Megan (Ryan) Eggert, Annika Carlson, and Seth Carlson; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Noah, Rebel, Raylan, and Ryley; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Nancy Holm; special cousins, Pat Holm and Barb Dittbenner; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Gloria Brinker and Alice Anderson (with Diane they called themselves the “ABC” group). Predeceased by her parents; husband, Steve; and son, Scott.

Service at 11 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Private family burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association.
