Diana Fassl

Diana May (Burns) Fassl, 73, of Loves Park, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in the hospital, from heart complications with her son, David Colombo, by her side.  Born January 7, 1949, in Lafe, AR, the third daughter of four daughters and five brothers of Quentis and Ozella (Dixon) Burns.  Graduated from West High School, Class of 1966.  She furthered her education at a Hair Academy where she got her beauticians license, and later in life became the owner of two successful beauty salons in Elgin, IL, and Chesapeake, VA.  Diana was married twice, first to Donald T. Colombo from 1969 to 1979 and then to Gary J. Fassl from 1980 to 1998.  The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.  Diana had many hobbies, and past times, but being with family and friends was her favorite!  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Alexander and Reigan Colombo and loved them with all of her heart.  Diana moved back to Loves Park, IL, in 2009 to take care of her mother, Ozella Burns, and was by her side when she passed at 102-years-old.  Diana was always there to listen for all her family, through the good times as well as the bad, she was never judgmental, very forgiving, and she always looked for the good in people.  She loved being outdoors, and looking at the beautiful scenery, sunrises, and sunsets.  Diana had a very kind soul, and we will always be grateful to have known her and to have loved her.  Diana’s love for her son was unconditional and was loved by her son unconditionally.  She will live in our heart's forever!  Survivors include her son, David Colombo; grandchildren, Alexander and Reigan Colombo; siblings, LC Burns, Bill Burns, Danny Burns, and Deborah Loporchio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Predeceased by her parents, Quentis and Ozella; siblings, Bob Burns, Georgia Babb, J.C. Burns, and Charlene Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring and will be announced at a later date.  Please bring flowers at that time.  Cremation rites accorded.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
