Delores J. Garman, “Goonie,” 90, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Friday, May 15, 1936, in Joubert, S.D., and is the daughter of Richard and Johanna (Van Luttikuizen) Bolt. She graduated from Corsica High School, and a year later made her way to Rockford IL, on a bus. She married Ronald L. Garman on February 11, 1961. They had two children together, Darrell and Misty. She was formerly employed by National Lock, the Gum Factory, and eventually retired from the U.S. Post Office after 35 years of service. She continued working afterwards as an OTB Clerk and performed a catering service, where she made many special friends.
Delores enjoyed many things: visits to the ocean, traveling to see relatives, planting and attending to her flowers, watching her bird houses, being a member of her quilting circle, reading and doing crossword puzzles, going to her many senior luncheons, watching her son and daughter race cars, and looking for her son’s tow trucks out on the road. She would never say no to a Snicker bar with her 3 o’clock coffee.
Delores’ two granddaughters, Hannah and Macey Lineman, were the center of her world. She was more than their Goonie; she was their best friend, protector, and biggest cheerleader. She taught them kindness, strength, compassion, and the importance of family. The memories she shared with them will remain cherished forever.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rod Bolt, Jim Bolt, and Tom Bolt; and sisters-in-law, Darlene McGrew, Elanie Yates, and Phyllis Knorr.
Delores is survived by her son, Darrell (Georgia) Garman; her daughter, Misty (Glenn) Lineman; and her cherished granddaughters, Hannah and Macey Lineman. She is also survived by Rhonda (Des) Rowe, Scott Rowe and family, Brandon Rowe, Randy and Michael Ferral, Michelle Allen, Rodney Seleen and family; her God Daughter, Kendra Holmes; her sisters, Joan VanGorp and Marcia Rus; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bolt and Carol Bolt; and many loved $2 nieces and nephews.
Special thanks and appreciation to Sheri, Deby, Kim, Lady Di, Jackie, Dee, Coral, Richaille, Kendra, Travis, and Outlaw Roxy.
