Delbert “Del” A. Dauenbaugh, 95, of Rockford passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born December 17, 1922, in Wawina, MN, one of 10 children, the son of Glen and Lina V. (Powell) Dauenbaugh. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, Class III signalman, where he was honored with numerous medals for courage and bravery. Married Patricia E. King on May 26, 1945, in Rockford. In his early years, he was a logger and lumberjack. Retired from Interstate Motor Freight as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, telling stories, family time and being active. Survivors include his daughter, Ellen Ryan; sons, Michael (Debbie) Dauenbaugh and Mark (Michelle) Dauenbaugh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Daniels of Machesney Park and Jeannie Root of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy. Predeceased by his wife; and son, Joel.
Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, in the funeral home.
