David L. Sanchez

David Lorenzo Sanchez, 72, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

David was born in Rockford, IL on December 7, 1953, the son of Santana Sanchez-Garza and Bette C. Bertalot. He married Deborah Gough Colombi in 1981. David and his family attended Grace Lutheran Church. He worked for many years as a cement truck driver for Meyer Material.

One of David’s greatest passions was playing the drums in local Rockford bands all his life. He also enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, cheering on the Chicago Bears and was a lover of all animals. Most of all, David cherished spending time with his dear grandchildren and family. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving relatives include his lifelong partner, Debi Sanchez; 2 sons, Dustin (Tracy) Colombi and Devin Sanchez; grandchildren, Rylie and Chase Colombi and Carson Sanchez; siblings, Barb Lloyd, Leo (Dianna) Sanchez, Mary Ann (Chuck) White, Steve (Gaye) Sanchez, Tom Hernandez and Ann Marie Sanchez; brothers and sisters in law, Krista (Jeff) McCauley, Jana (Ed) Guske and David (Ammie) Gough and numerous nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his parents; son, David Jr., parents in law, Dave and Jackie Gough; siblings, Roberto and Hortencia Sanchez; siblings in law, Roger Lloyd, Jay and Katrina Gough.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at Delehanty Funeral Home, Loves Park, IL. Share memories and condolences at www.delehantyfh.com
