David M. Smith

David M. Smith, 68, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Javon Bea Hospital. Born on Friday, November 16, 1956, in Rockford, IL, the son of Fred C. and Jeanette R. (Allbee) Smith. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1974. Formerly employed by Aero Space, Textron. David enjoyed camping. He loved going to the beach in California where he lived for the past 48 years. Survivors include his son, Jason (Leilah) Smith, Chief Warrant Officer 3, USCD; daughter, Stephanie Feher; five grandchildren; mother, Jeanette Smith; and brothers, Donald Smith and Douglas (Suzie) Smith. Predeceased by his father, Fred Smith.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane Loves Park, IL. Cremation rites accorded. Family inurnment immediately following memorial visitation at Harlem Cemetery, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
