David A. Kane, 65, of Machesney Park joined God’s Army of Angels on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in his home, after a yearlong battle with cancer. A proud Vietnam Army Veteran with the 1/7 Calvary Alpha Company. Fought in the front lines and awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. Born December 21, 1951, in Rockford, the son of Ivan and Irene (Richmond) Kane. Married Sonia Brazel on October 26, 1974, in Loveland, CO. Attended North Park Covenant Church. Life member of Loves Park VFW Post 9759. He loved riding his Harley, trapshooting, fishing and playing his guitar. Survivors include his wife, Sonia; son, Eric (Christine) Kane; father, Ivan Kane; sisters, Lois Donaldson, Sue Kindel, Sandy (Rick) Bennett, Joan (Russ) Price; mother-in-law, Janet Coffey; brother-in-law, Art (Sandy) Brazel; sisters-in-law, Patti (Tony) Cardenas and Beth Montoya; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by his mother; niece, Christine Donaldson Krugen; father-in-law, Gene Brazel. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice including Missy, Felicia, Matt, Tyson, Deb, Jim, Sylvia, Jane and staff for their loving care.
Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
