Darrell L. Patterson

Darrell L. Patterson, 59, of Roscoe, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with squamous cell cancer. Born August 12, 1963, in Rockford, IL, the son of Kenneth and JoReta (Grimmett) Patterson. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1981. He married Patricia Ronan on October 21, 1995. Employed by Wisconsin Power and Light as a lab technician for four years and previously by Evoqua Water Technologies for 31 years. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, camping, and coaching his sons’ sporting events. Darrell enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also treasured Florida beach vacations with his family. Avid Chicago Bear and Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Isaac Patterson, Jordan Patterson, and Jennifer Jenkins; sisters, Loretta Vanstone, and Holly (David) Martin; and brother, David Patterson; many nieces and nephews; and loving dog, Cody. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Kenneth Daniel Patterson. Family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice for their love and compassion, especially nurse Corrine, Dr. Kalweit, and Dr. Gahley with Swedish American Hospital Palliative Care Cancer Center. Memorial mass at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
