Daniel Michael Lang, 69, of Machesney Park passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, in his home. Born February 14, 1951, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of James C. and Mary Jean (Brooks) Lang. Married Jo Ellen Rood on June 1, 1974, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was recruited to University of Wisconsin in Green Bay to play soccer, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. Employed by the Harlem School District teaching Earth Science from September 1974 until retirement in June 2007, having taught at Marshall School, Harlem High School South Campus and Harlem High School. Daniel coached track at Marshall Middle School and Junior Varsity Football at Harlem High School. He started the Boys and Girls Soccer Program at Harlem High School where he also coached. He officiated High School Basketball in Northern Illinois. Member of GPS - God's People Serving Church. Volunteered at Helping Hands Food Pantry and Maple School, where he also tutored and did science experiments. He was very handy, having built an addition on his home and other woodworking projects. Daniel enjoyed golfing, biking and working out. Avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ellen; children, Bryson (Angie) Lang, Jordan (Alex) Hill and Cassidy (Drew) Rasmusson; grandchildren, Brecker Lang, Hadley Lang, Kaia Hill, Bodhi Hill, Oliver Hill and Bexley Rasmusson; brothers, David (Barb) Lang and Dennis Lang; sister, Kerrie (Eileen Micklitz) Lang; nieces, Christina and Andrea; nephew, Davy; close friend, George Baehr; many other loving friends and neighbors. Predeceased by his parents; and mother- and father-in-law; Jo Ann and Elliot Rood.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites accorded.
