Dale James

Dale L. “Big G.” James, 80, of Machesney Park was reunited with his wife and family on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in his home. Born June 10, 1940, in Rockford, the son of Henry and Betty J. (Lorenzen) James. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1958. Married Nedra J. Harris on August 28, 1965, in Rockford. Employed by North Park Water Department as chairman for 35 years and by Rock Valley Brick, retiring in 2009. Member of North Park Fire Department serving for 25 years, retiring as captain. Member of Windsor School PTA, HYC, HCC, and Harlem Music Boosters. Dale was on the Greater North Park 4th of July Celebration committee. Avid CB radio enthusiast, Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing and loved being a father to everyone. Survivors include daughter, Connie (Chris) Fleener; grandchildren, Jessica James, Cassie Fleener, Megan Fleener, Brittany Boyd and Tyler Fleener; great-grandchildren, Sophie Troncoso, Rin Q. James, Brinley Fleener and Lilly Fleener; siblings, Liz Harris, Joe (Debbie) James, Vicky James and Jerry (Holly) James; numerous nieces and nephews; 2nd father to Jannea, Michael, Angie and Jeff. Predeceased by parents; wife, Nedra; daughter, Cindy James; and brothers, Russ, Danny, and Mike.

Walk through visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens to follow. Social distancing and face coverings required. Private family services will be held prior to visitation with livestream on Delehanty Facebook. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
