Constance “Connie” Marie (Shephard) Stimpson, 90, of Rockford passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, in River Bluff Nursing Home. Born March 6, 1927, in Patch Grove, WI, the daughter of George T. and Millicent (Dubel) Shepherd. Connie grew up in Mount Hope, WI. Married Carlos G. Stimpson on February 21, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, while Carlos was in the Navy. After her marriage, she was a homemaker, cooking and sewing for her family. Member of First Baptist Church of Machesney Park. In her spare time, Connie made quilts and would sew the squares together of the afghans that Carlos crocheted. Survivors include her sons, Mike (Joyce) Stimpson of Fennimore, WI, Ray (Valerie) Stimpson of Mazomanie, WI, Russell (Marie) Stimpson of Wauzeka, WI, and Billy (friend, Jeannie) Stimpson of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Stimpson, Ed (Tina) Stimpson, Russell (Andrea) Stimpson, Carla (Michael) Lantz, Kristy (friend, Bob) Driscoll, Michelle (Jon) Hubbard and Veronica (friend, Ben) Stimpson; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrna Bowen of Virginia; and half-sister, Linda Smith of Illinois. Predeceased by her husband; parents; step-mother, Dorothy Shepherd; sister, Arlene Fry; brother, Raymond Shepherd; half-brother, Stephen Shepherd; and half-sister, Penny Lee Shepherd. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at River Bluff Nursing Home for the excellent care of our mother.
Service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 20, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from noon to service time. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
