Clara A. (Johnson) Crescenzo, 95, of Machesney Park passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, in Fair Oaks Health Care Center. Born June 19, 1923, in Darlington, Wisconsin, daughter of Marshall and Sybilla (Staver) Johnson. Lived 77 years in the Rockford area, coming here from Darlington, Wisconsin. Married Bennie J. Crescenzo on May 14, 1949, in Rockford. Employed by National Lock for 42 years, retiring in 1983. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church where she also volunteered to make bakery items for funeral luncheons. Active member and Treasurer of TOPS, Chapter IL812 in Loves Park for more than 35 years. She enjoyed ceramics, arts, crafts, and baking many pies. Clara will always be remembered as a kind hearted, sensitive and caring person. She never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. She brought so much happiness to all who knew her. Devoted mother of her son, Vincent “Jimmy” Crescenzo of Temecula, California; and daughter, Mary “Sissy” (Larry) Nalewanski of Roscoe; beloved grandmother of Nicholas “Nick” Nalewanski and Nolan Nalewanski, both of Roscoe, who she loved, cherished and was so proud of; sister-in-law, Stella Bielefeldt of Rockford; brother-in-law, John Crescenzo of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, William Johnson and Buddy Johnson; sister, Julie (Sober) Johnson; half-brother, Charles Johnson; half-sister, Sherry (Long) Staver. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 2, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd.
