Chet Allen

Chet Demorest Allen, 65, of Rockford passed away Thursday morning, June 14, 2018, at home, surrounded by family. Born August 14, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana, son of Robert J. and Virginia B. (Bagwell) Allen. Chet grew up and graduated high school in Springfield. Chet attended Lincoln Christian College. He moved to Rockford after marrying his wife, Carolyn (Jones) Allen of Carlinville. They were married on May 10, 1975, in Springfield. Chet worked for Eclipse, Inc. for 40 years and 2 years for Elster Eclipse, currently Honeywell Eclipse in Rockford. He loved playing both electric and acoustic guitar, listening to music and spending time with his grandsons. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Dawn (Benjamin) Hartman, Sandra Allen and Jennifer Allen; grandsons, Owen and Emmett Hartman; sister, Patricia S. (special brother-in-law, Tom) Holtke; nephew, Brandon Holtke; special cat, Kitty. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Monday, June 18, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with memorial visitation from 3 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society.
