Caroline "Card" Thomson

Caroline “Card” W. Thomson, 84, of Rockford was reunited with her husband Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Born April 3, 1932, in Bainbridge, NY, the daughter of George and Margaret (Shay) Pangburn. Married Merwin “Mert” H. Thomson on Christmas Eve at her parents home and were married 63 years until Mert’s passing in 2012. Member of North Love Baptist Church and the Jolly 60’s group. She enjoyed camping with her husband and was an avid NASCAR fan. Caroline loved cooking for family, and she and her husband fostered over 100 children. Survivors include children, Merwina (Dennis) Gamble, Terry Thomson, Patty (John) Ribovich, Carol (Joe) Tice, Saberynn Thomson; daughter-in-law, Donna Thomson; adopted children, Callie Thomson, Cassie Thomson, Christian Thomson, Merwin Thomson Jr., Joy Thomson; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Predeceased by husband and son, George Sr. “I’m sure Mom had a to-do list ready for Dad when they met in Heaven.”

Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, in North Love Baptist Church, 5301 East Riverside Blvd., Rockford. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Ln., Loves Park.
