Carole A. “Nani” Cannella, 86, of Machesney Park, IL, was welcomed into heaven on Monday, February 26, 2024, in her home. Born June 30, 1937, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Bennett) Bast. Graduated from East High School, Class of 1955. She married Joseph A. Cannella in 1970, in Rockford. Employed by the Secretary of State for 22 years. She enjoyed crafting and shopping. Her grandchildren have given her all the joy she ever had in her life. Survivors include her son, Thomas (Sara) Cannella; grandchildren, Angela, Adam, Thomas “TJ”, Nicholas, Santino “Sonny”, and Toni Jo Cannella, and Isaiah Jones; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hart, Emily Cannella, Sophia Tijerina, and Ella Vice; great-great-grandchildren, Maelyn, Maddyn, and Vittori; sister, Dianne (Hugh) Bourkland. Predeceased by her precious angels, her parents; and the love of her life, her husband in 1986.

Graveside inurnment at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, in Greenwood Cemetery, 1011 Auburn Street, Rockford, IL, with a Celebration of Life to follow. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
