Carol Try

February 6, 1944 — November 18, 2023

Carol “Lynn” L. Try, 79, of Loves Park, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 in her home.  Born February 6, 1944, in Blocton, AL, the daughter of Theodore and Hildred (Curlee) Jacobs.  Lynn attended West High School and Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL.  She married James “Jim” Try on April 23, 1966, in Rockford.  Lynn’s greatest joy was found in motherhood and raising her two children.  She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church of Rockford for several years.  Lynn and Jim were able to retire to Sebastian, FL, in 2007 where Lynn enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shells, and observing wildlife.  Lynn was an avid reader, collector of Star Trek, Star Wars and Harry Potter memorabilia, and enjoyed doing puzzles and gardening.  She also kept an extensive art collection on display of works completed by her grandchildren.  With a huge heart for animals, Lynn often made donations to animal rescues and foundations and could always be found leaving out treats for the local wildlife.  Lynn is survived by her children, Jeremy (Casey) Try and Kendra (Chris Caras) Try; grandchildren, Ashley (Jas Bilich) Try, Jesse Try, Krikyn Caras, and Leo Caras; great-grandson, Jasper Bilich; one brother, Frank (Gaye) Jacobs; several nieces and nephews; faithful feline companion, Cali; and caretaker and friend, Cristy.  Predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Hildred; husband, Jim; daughter-in-law, Venus Try; siblings, Joyce Coonfare, Pat Cook, Sandra Conkling, Judy Jacobs, and John Jacobs; and her loving animal companions, Rabbit, Araya and Caponey.

Memorial visitation from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.  Cremation rites accorded.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
