Carl "Kelly" Thurow

Carl “Kelly” F. Thurow, Sr., 80, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2018, in his home. Born November 4, 1937, in Rockford, the son of Henry O.W. and Theresa (Liebich) Thurow. Attended Winnebago Schools. Married Susan Medearis on November 8, 1958, in Rockford. Employed by Hembrough Motors for 52 years, retiring in 2006. Lifetime member of the Moose. Kelly enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on cars. Avid NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife, Sue; children, Carl (Cindy) Thurow. Jr., Charlotte Thurow and Chad Thurow; granddaughter, Taylor Neuschwander-Thurow; brother, John “Jack” (Betty) Thurow; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Madison and Riley. Predeceased by parents, one sister, Elsie Johnson and one brother, William R. Thurow. Family wishes to thank Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dept., First Responders and Palliative Care for their assistance and support.

Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
