Brian Dean Hawkins, affectionately known as “Hawk” to his many friends, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2025, at the age of 61. A lifelong resident of Loves Park and Machesney Park, Illinois. Brian was born on January 26, 1964, to the late Donald and Delores (Stauffacher) Hawkins.
A proud 1982 graduate of Harlem High School, Brian’s personality was truly larger than life. Over the years he built countless friendships and connections through his work in the auto parts industry and at the Rockford Airport, where his quick wit and easy laugh made him unforgettable to all who met him.
Brian was a longtime member of the LLL Club and enjoyed a wide range of interests. He loved listening to classic rock - especially Led Zeppelin - and spent many happy hours watching racing, wrestling, hunting, fishing, and working on cars. He also proudly coached his sons in wrestling when they were younger, sharing his love for the sport and creating cherished memories. Among his greatest joys were his two beloved sons and his prized 1968 Corvette Stingray, both of which he cherished deeply.
Brian is survived by his sons, Jacob (Kaylee), and John Hawkins; ex-wife, Mary (Hunt) Hawkins; sisters, Debbie (Larry) Tate, Beverly (Don) Dressler, and Peggy Hawkins; nephews, Travis Tate and Christopher Sorensen; and dog, Koda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Delores Hawkins; and his dogs, Benny and Skipper.
Brian will be remembered for his enormous heart, boundless energy, and the joy he brought to every gathering. His absence leaves a hole that can never be filled, but his stories, memorable quotes, laughter, and love will remain with all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 524 Brentwood Road, Machesney Park, from 1:00 p.m. to close. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
