Bobby L. Eaton, 76, of Loves Park went to heaven on Monday, August 14, 2017. He was born on August 12, 1941, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Clay and Martha (Post) Eaton. Bobby married Patricia Miller on August 10, 1963, in Mt. Pleasant, Indiana. Bobby was employed by Chrysler in Indianapolis, Indiana, for 19 years and then surrendered to serve God in the ministry. Bobby pastored 2 churches in Indiana (Dillsboro and Indianapolis) and 1 in Natchez, Mississippi. He also served the Lord at Maranatha Baptist Mission in Natchez from 1985 to 1994 – a favorite time in his life. Bobby and his wife moved to Illinois to be near their daughter and family and became a member of North Love Baptist Church in Rockford. Bobby’s favorite hobby was fishing. He was an avid fisherman and fisher of men. He loved telling others about Christ. Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Loves Park; daughter, Wendy (Benjamin) Burks of Loves Park; grandchildren, Joshua (Cara) Burks of Tinley Park, Caleb Burks of Loves Park, and Hannah Burks of Loves Park. He loved his in-laws like natural family and is also survived by brothers-in-law, Carl (Sheila) Miller of Florida and Richard (Mary) Miller of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Jim) Taylor of Texas, and Jean (Don) Seagraves of Indiana. Bobby is predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Nancy Pat Eaton; 7 brothers; 2 sisters; and 2 sisters-in-law.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, at North Love Baptist Church, 5301 East Riverside Blvd., Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be held at Argyle Scottish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., of Loves Park.
