Betty A. Swigert, 86, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in her home surrounded by family. Born January 6, 1938, in West Brooklyn, IL, the daughter of Elliot and Elizabeth (Swope) Bresson. Formerly employed by Donutland in Rockford for many years and later owned and operated two of her own Donutlands. She was most recently employed by Dr. Fellows. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church for more than 50 years. Avid bowler, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. Betty enjoyed playing cards with her card club. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Peggy) Swigert and Gregory Swigert; daughter, Sue (Charles) Johnson; grandchildren, Gregory (Jessica Morris) Swigert, Jr., Jeffrey Swigert, Amanda (Matt) Wolff, Lindsey (Sam Cruz) Swigert, Christopher (Tiffany) Swigert, Brian (Jessica) Johnson, Molly Swigert, Benjamin Swigert; great-grandchildren, Lavender, Wilder, Asher, Ford, Augustine, Ruthie, Raelynn, and Charlie; nieces, Dore and Brittany. Predeceased by her parents; daughter-in-law, Ruth Swigert; brothers, Ronald and Marvin Bresson.

Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
