Betty Lou Bouma, 93, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, in her home. Born March 9, 1931, in Rockford, the daughter of George Nelson and Dorothy; although she was raised by her stepmother, Irma. She married Jack Bouma on September 2, 1950. Member of Forest Hills Free Church. She always made a house a home. Betty enjoyed gardening, crafting, scrapbooking, and cooking. She made sure everyone was well fed. Betty always saw the best in everyone. Survivors include her children, Debra (Fred) Gangel, Brad (Donna) Bouma, Traci (Jason) Walsh, and Terri (Paul) Triplett; grandchildren, Meghan (Myles) Moss, Mike (Alicia) Bouma, Matt Bouma, Marc (Lynn) Bouma, Angela Bouma, Celeste Gangel, and Keith Gangel; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Vincer and Kathy Schmid. Predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Jerry Nelson; and grandson, Sean Green.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
