Berniece Christine “Chris” Gale, 68, of Loves Park passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a short battle with colon cancer. She was born July 19, 1948, in Peoria, the daughter of Wiley C. and Mildred (Tucker) Reed. She graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1966 and married Brent Gale, October 17, 1970. Early on, Chris was a stay-at-home Mom, never missing her kid’s games or events. Chris then became a veterinary technician, working in Eldridge, Iowa, and Indianola, Iowa. She was currently a chiropractic assistant in Loves Park, Illinois. Chris was an animal lover and had owned several hobby farms; raising llamas, alpacas, goats, peacocks, cats, mini horses and mini donkeys. She enjoyed reading, going to craft shows, flea and farmer’s markets. She will be remembered as a thoughtful person, rarely speaking about herself, but always asking about others. Survivors include daughter, Dr. Andrea (Dr. Jarrod Kerkhoff) Gale of Rockford, Illinois; sons, James “Jay” (Christine) Gale of Park View, Iowa, and Christopher (Jenni Schwartz) Gale of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Paisley Gale and Keaton Gale; brother, Pastor Jim Reed of Farmington, Illinois; aunt, Juanita (Al) Mattson of Hemet, California; niece; nephew; and her children’s father, Brent Gale of Wailea, Hawaii. Predeceased by her parents and two sisters-in-law.
