Barbara Strickland

Barbara Kay Strickland, 71, of Loves Park, IL, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, in her home. Born May 3, 1952, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Paul and Carol (Albright) Leonard. She married Marvin Strickland on December 23, 1972. Barbara received two associated degrees from Rock Valley College. Retired from ComEd. Member of Evans United Methodist Church. She loved her animals, especially cats and horses. Barbara was an avid reader and loved working on puzzle books. She enjoyed working on hand sewn quilts. Her quilts won prizes, including 1st place at the County Fair. She was a loving mom, loving grandmother, and her grandchildren were her life. Survivors include her husband, Marvin; children, Jessica Strickland, Amanda (Shayne) Boyd, Erika Strickland, and Roberta (Don) Williams; grandchildren, DonGeono, Alyssa, Anyalissa, Brandon, Zachary, and Joshua; sister, Janet (Richard) Hilling; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; and brother, Jeffery Leonard.
