Barbara Runestad

Barbara L. Runestad, 91, of Rockford died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Wesley Willows Senior Living Community. Born October 2, 1926, in Morris, IL, the daughter of Karl and Lucille (Horth) Aarrestad.  Married Rev. Luverne T. Runestad, June 19, 1948.  Retired as a R.N. working in mental health care for many years.  Barb was a sweet, warm, caring, giving person, a wonderful partner to Luverne and a devoted mother.  Member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.  Survivors include sons, Larry (Jean) Runestad and Paul (Mary) Runestad; daughter, Pastor Dana (Barry Rabe) Runestad; daughter-in-law, Vicki Runestad; grandchildren, Chris (Jen) Runestad, Jon (Denise) Runestad, Callie (Aaron) Hefstad, Jake Runestad, Amy (Kevin) Armstrong, Michael (Brian Stone) Runestad, Matthew and Andrew Rabe; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Haley and Molly Armstrong, Addison, Ethan and Samuel Runestad; step-great-grandchildren, Tayler and Luke Freeman; brother, Ernie (Ellie) Aarrestad; sister-in-law, Miriam Knutson; many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband, Luverne; son, Craig; and her parents.

Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 North Rockton Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the church. The Rev. Dr. Eric Lemonholm will officiate.  Burial at Arlington Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church or Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
