Barbara A. Iverson, 80, of Rockford died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in her home after a valiant battle with cancer. Born November 26, 1940, in Rockford, the daughter of Emery and Ilene (Bruce) Schuh. She graduated in 1959 from Bishop Muldoon High School and later that year married Mark Iverson, whom she met at Lake Ripley in Cambridge, WI, a place they cherished all their lives. She and Mark had four children. A natural care giver, she worked at Maria Linden Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. After moving to Florida in early 1980’s, she continued this career. Moving back to Illinois in 1985, she and Mark started their own business, Iverson Painting, in 1986. They were very proud of the work they did and the relationships they had with their customers. What started out as a “mom and pop” business is now continuing as an award winning, family-owned small business. Barb retired in 2005 but kept an occasional hand in operations until 2018. Barb will always be remembered for her giving spirit, her nurturing instinct, and her compassion toward others. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be forever missed. Survivors include her four children, Paul (Mary) Iverson, Theresa Meyer, Theodore (Joanne) Iverson, and Mark Iverson, II; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, many nieces and nephews, and her loving companion in life, James Mitchell. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Mark Sr.; and granddaughter.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
