Antonette Yuccas, 92, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 26, 1934, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Nick and Sarah (Pumilia) Mistretta. She married Roger Yuccas on June 19, 1954, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Rockford, IL, where she was a longtime member.
Antonette, known as “Toni” to her friends and family was the walking definition of a kindhearted spirit. She was quick witted and never lost her great sense of humor. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and was loved by not only her children, but also their friends who were never shy about stopping by to see what “Mom” was cooking. She was a great cook providing the family’s Sunday football staples of spaghetti or chili until she officially retired as homemaker and cook. Her declaration became “I don’t care what we eat, as long as I don’t have to cook it.”
Toni was warm-hearted, always saw the best in people and was loved by those who knew her. She had many friends in her neighborhood and always enjoyed their Flamingo Friday gatherings, especially when she came home with her favorite... a doggie bag of shrimp.
Over the years Toni enjoyed sketching, painting, reading, cooking, crafts, gardening, and especially decorating. Some of her fondest memories were of the annual road trip Roger and she made to Vegas. Traveling different routes each year to see the sights of the country and then attending many shows and celebrity events in Vegas. Always to return home with a load of stuffed animals for the grandkids. She and Roger both loved music, but only Toni was known for breaking out into a little dance in the middle of a conversation with her fun-loving and playful side.
Our family will be forever grateful for the roots of generosity and kindness she taught us.
A special thanks to granddaughter, Stephanie, who barely left grandma’s side during her final days.
