Anthony “Tony” J. Jamont, 86, of Machensey Park passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, after a sudden illness. Born August 27, 1931, in Rockford, the son of Frank and Petronella (Domininkas) Jamont. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954. Honorably discharged after being wounded and evacuated from front line combat. He was awarded the Purple Heart for sustained injuries. Upon leaving the military, he began working at J.L. Clark where he met and married Flo “Jackie” Truesdale on June 19, 1960, in Roscoe. Tony retired from J.L. Clark in 1993, after 39 years of service. Member of Clifford Johnson VFW, Post 9759. Survivors include his son, John Jamont; daughter, Amy (Joe) Buchanan; granddaughters, Hannah and Emma; and a niece in Florida. Predeceased by his wife; brother, Frank; sisters, Patricia Strombeck and Annie Payne.
