Alton Flute

Alton D. Flute, 82, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Friday, June 18, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved.  Born February 1, 1939, in Sisseton, South Dakota.  Married Doris S. (Ozley) Burfield on June 30, 1971, in Freeport.  Retired as a truck driver in 2017.  Survivors include his children, Mike (Marcie) Flute of Loves Park, Rick (Kathy) Burfield of Pecatonica, Terry Burfield of Loves Park, Linda “Katie” Burfield of New Smyrne Beach, Florida, and Elton, Vonnie, Alexis and Melissa Flute all of South Dakota; grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Shaver, Shawn (Kristina) Dixon, Stephanie, Joshua (Windy), Brandon, Jeff (Nichole), Gary (Linda) Jr., and Amy Burfield, Allissa (Michael) Peppers, Cheyenne Flute, and Alayna Bakkala; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend and companion, Nina Wilson.  Predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Doris; and son, Gary Burfield, Sr.

Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time.  Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mercy Health at Home Hospice.
