Allen “Al” W. Cottrill, 70, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL, after a long battle with kidney disease. Born April 21, 1953, in Pittsburg, PA, the son of Burton and Elaine (Thoren) Cottrill. He married his high school sweetheart, Pamela S. Hinz on November 17, 1973. He was an extremely hard worker who always held two jobs, most recently employed by Fairhaven Christian Home and Lowes. Al had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He maintained a lawn that was the envy of the neighborhood. Survivors include his daughters, Amy (Adam) Larson and Lisa Cottrill; son, Brian (Katie) Cottrill; grandchildren, Ava and Alex Larson, Jaxson Bielefeldt, and Briggs Cottrill; grand-dogs, Olive, Maggie and Auggie; brothers, Paul Cottrill and Billy (Linda) Cottrill. Predeceased by his parents; loving wife of 47 years, Pamela; brother, Larry Cottrill; and sister-in-law, Diane Cottrill.
Memorial service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with inurnment immediately following at Argyle Scottish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Rockford Park District Foundation.
