Allan P. Merfeld

Allan Merfeld, 83, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born on Friday, November 13, 1942, in the family home in Cascade, IA, the son of Joseph and Mary (Koob) Merfeld. He married Beverly (Johnson) Jones on July 23, 1977, in Loves Park, IL. Allan owned and operated Merfeld’s Auto Repair. Member of the Crown Victoria Association. Allan raced his stock car Big Bird at the Rockford Speedway. He enjoyed collecting antiques rummaging through garage sales. Allan was known to many as “Al the Pal” and was always helping others fix cars. He loved spending time with his family, insisting they listen to his dad jokes. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Merfeld; daughters, Rebecca (Ed) Peterson, Jennifer (Johnny) Johnson, Debbie (Bruce) McKenzie; son, Charles Merfeld; grandchildren, Dylan Manning, Josh Manning, Haylee Albertini, Casey Johnson, Angelica Merfeld, Kayla Merfeld, Trenton Merfeld, Kevin McKenzie, Grant McKenzie, and Ryan McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Devin Albertini, Mya Albertini, Ryan Albertini, Delois, Rhiannon Werland, Jaster Werland, Lilith Merfeld, and Leo Merfeld; sisters-in-law, Geri Merfeld, Gladys Merfeld, and Cheryl Merfeld. Predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Judith (Harbaugh) Merfeld; his sons, Kevin Merfeld and Glenn Merfeld; daughter Natalie Merfeld; and siblings, Joseph (Dodie) Merfeld, Carl (Peggy) Merfeld, Francis Merfeld, Louie Merfeld, Mary-Margaret (Jr.) Ahlers, Theresa (Ralph) Drew, Annabelle (Gerald) Gudenkauf, Rosemarie (Earl) Oswald, and Robert Merfeld.

Service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
