Alice L. Duclon, 86, of Rockford passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, surrounded by family. Born Wednesday, July 9, 1930, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie “Alice” (Wedenart) Gavney. Graduated from Beloit High School, Class of 1948. Married Eugene E. Duclon July 2, 1949, in Rockford. Member of Riverside Community Church and prior member of Evan’s United Methodist Church. Alice’s life work was her family, her friends and her church. She loved sewing, making her clothes and clothes for her four daughters; gardening with her husband, Gene, which included sharing, freezing and canning their fresh produce; and her delicious home-cooking and prize winning baking was always in demand. In the early years, even though she was busy raising four girls, she enjoyed her time at her daughters school, volunteering as a room mother and working on PTA projects; serving as a girl scout leader; volunteering for activities in the Masonic organizations of the Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters; organizing and working at church salad luncheons and dinners; her church mission work; and traveling to New York and Door County. Alice’s later years found her busy with grandkids, great-grandkids and caregiver for her husband, Gene, in his declining health until he passed. No matter how busy her life, Alice made time to write a card or bake some cookies for someone in need. She was known by all for her kind and gentle caring spirit. Her spiritual beliefs guided her through the many challenges she faced in her life. Survivors include her daughters, Alanna (Bill) Conard, Denise Duclon, Alison (Scott) Foster and Lisa (Doug) Halberstadt, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Dani (Kevin) Jordal, Kelly (Amy) Rose, Albert (Amber) Provenzano, Dominic Provenzano, Ashley Rose, Eugene Provenzano and Annette (Jacob) Hays; great-grandchildren, Lia and Ava Rose, Abram and Aubrianna Guzman, Bella and Cora Provenzano, Maddyn and Colton Jordal and Evelyn and Elliot Hays; numerous nieces and nephews.
