Beloved wife and husband of Rockford, Alice Jeanne (Gantz) Davidson, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, and Robert “Bob” E. Davidson, 83, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020. Alice was born July 5, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Olsen) Gantz. Robert was born March 3, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, the son of James and Mardell (Knauer) Davidson. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Alice and Robert were married on May 28, 1960, in Rockford. Bob was employed by Woodward Governor starting as an electrician, retiring as plant facilities planner. They were members of Central Christian Church. Alice loved the sanctuary of her home. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, spending time with family and friends. Alice loved owls, hummingbirds, cats and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Robert loved fishing, traveling, golfing, biking, tennis, and was a painter and artist. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed washing windows at church. Bob was a ham radio operator under the call sign WA9NTT and a member of the local ham club RARA. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include their children, Brad (Rose) Davidson and Cathy (Doug) Anderson; grandchildren, Scott Davidson, Brandon Davidson, Gavin Stephenson, Laura (David) Standhardt and Logan Anderson; Alice’s brothers, Don Gantz and Martin (Denise) Gantz; numerous nieces and nephews; and their many close friends. Predeceased by their parents; two children by miscarriages; a child in infancy; a grandchild by miscarriage; nieces, Kira Gantz and Margaret Gantz; Alice’s brother, Robert Gantz; and Robert’s sister in infancy.
Service at noon Saturday, January 9, in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Road, Rockford, with walk through visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Social distancing and face coverings required. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Central Christian Church for the benevolence fund or Transitions Hospice.
