Alfeo Bari, 101, of Loves Park, passed away peacefully Monday, April 11, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his children. He was born September 16, 1920, in Modena, Italy, the son of Luigi and Pasquina (Logli) Barigazzi. He came to America at 15-years-old after both parents passed away. Married Angelina R. Gaziano on September 1, 1954, in Rockford, and they raised seven children. He especially enjoyed their family Wednesday trips, hikes in the woods, watching evening sunsets with mom, and having one or more children with him during long days at Courtesy Foods. He was a proud World War II veteran, receiving a Purple Heart. Member of the 12th Armored Division. At 21 years old, Alfeo was featured in the December 7, 1942, Register Republic Newspaper when he received his United States citizenship. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing vegetables and flowers with friends and family. Survivors include his children, Joseph Andrea Bari, Carmela Agnes (Frederick) Osborne, Alfeo John Bari, Albert Louis Bari, Amy Louise (Ronald) Dombro, and Angela Rose (Jim) Stewart; son-in-law, William Bayci; grandchildren, Christopher (Vanessa), and Kevin (Bethany) Bayci, Emily (Marek) Mroczek, Maria and Margaret Osborne, Erica, Joseph, and Audrey Dombro, Jason and Adam Stewart; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Colton Bayci, John and Abigail Mroczek; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Gaziano; many nieces and nephews including niece in Italy Giuliana Brugioni of Montecreto. Predeceased by his parents; four siblings; wife, Angelina; and daughter, Anna Maria Bayci. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at Swedish American Home Health and Heartland Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial and Livestream Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2022, at Saint Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time.
